The Meetup Experience

One book. One room full of women. Everything else unfolds from there.

The Well Read Book Club meets every other month in Chicago.

Each meetup centers around one book. I select the title, announce the date, and give everyone time to read. When we gather, it’s not a lecture and it’s not a classroom. It’s readers coming together after finishing the same story, ready to share what they thought.

Every event is built around the book.

There’s always a fan cast where we vote on who would play the main characters. Discussion questions on the tables help guide casual and fun conversation. If you want to analyze themes, go for it. If you want to spiral about the love interest, also valid.

Food is part of it — sometimes themed, sometimes simple. Printed name tags and thoughtful details. A little structure so you don’t feel awkward walking in alone. Most women come solo. Many leave with plans to see each other again.

Capacity is limited. Tickets are paid in advance. Once you’re in, you’ll receive all the details leading up to the event.

The goal is simple: show up, read the book, be in the room.

Upcoming Meetups

Book announcements and sign-ups available a few weeks prior to each meetup. Our community newsletter list gets first access, followed by social media second. Be sure to subscribe to get first dibs!

“I came home and continued to rave about the book, all the gals, and the care you put into it. Thank you for creating such a magical way to gather!”
