Terms & Conditions
1. Agreement to Terms
By accessing or using the website, newsletter, online community, or any events or services offered by The Well Read Book Club LLC (“TWRBC,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions (“Terms”). If you do not agree, please do not access or use our services.
2. About The Well Read Book Club
The Well Read Book Club is a Chicago-based book club offering in-person meetup events, an online community hosted on the Fable platform, and a newsletter. Our philosophy is simple: if you read, you’re well read.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years of age to access our services or attend our events. By using our services, you confirm that you meet this requirement.
4. Events and Registration
4.1 Event Tickets
Some TWRBC events require registration or a ticket purchase, which may be processed through a third-party platform (such as Eventbrite or a similar service). Payment is handled by those platforms’ secure processors. TWRBC does not store or retain payment information.
4.2 Cancellation and Refund Policy
Cancellations are eligible for a full refund if submitted at least 48 hours before the scheduled event. Cancellation requests must be submitted through the official registration platform or by emailing us directly. Cancellations made via social media (including Instagram DMs or comments) will not be accepted.
Cancellations made within 48 hours of the scheduled event are non-refundable.
4.3 Event Cancellations by TWRBC
We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule an event due to circumstances beyond our control, including but not limited to inclement weather, venue issues, or low attendance. In the event of a cancellation by TWRBC, registered attendees will receive a full refund or the option to transfer their registration to a future event.
4.4 Conduct at Events
All attendees are expected to treat fellow members, guests, and hosts with respect. TWRBC reserves the right to remove any attendee whose behavior is disruptive, abusive, or harmful to others. No refund will be issued in cases of removal for conduct violations.
5. Online Community (Fable)
TWRBC hosts an online community through the Fable platform. Use of the Fable platform is subject to Fable’s own terms of service and privacy policy in addition to these Terms. Within the TWRBC community space, members are expected to engage respectfully and constructively. TWRBC reserves the right to remove members from the community for violations of our community standards.
6. Newsletter
By subscribing to the TWRBC newsletter, you agree to receive periodic emails about upcoming events, book selections, and club news. You may unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email. We use Flodesk to manage our newsletter, and your email address will be processed according to Flodesk’s privacy policy.
7. Merchandise
TWRBC offers branded merchandise for purchase through our website. All sales are subject to the following:
All merchandise sales are final unless the item arrives damaged or defective.
If you receive a damaged or defective item, please contact us within 7 days of delivery with a photo of the issue, and we will arrange a replacement or refund.
Shipping timelines are estimates and may vary. TWRBC is not responsible for delays caused by third-party carriers.
By placing an order, you confirm that the shipping information you provide is accurate. TWRBC is not responsible for orders lost or undeliverable due to incorrect information.
8. User Conduct
When using any TWRBC service, platform, or attending any event, you agree to:
Provide accurate and complete information
Treat all members, attendees, and TWRBC staff with respect
Not engage in unlawful, abusive, harassing, or disruptive behavior
Not use TWRBC content or materials without prior written permission
We reserve the right to refuse service or access to anyone who violates these Terms.
9. Intellectual Property
All content associated with The Well Read Book Club — including but not limited to the name, logo, website content, social media content, newsletter copy, and event materials — is the intellectual property of The Well Read Book Club LLC or used with permission. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or modify our content without prior written consent.
10. Third-Party Platforms and Links
Our website and communications may contain links to or integrations with third-party platforms, including Fable, Flodesk, Eventbrite, and social media channels. We are not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of these external platforms. We encourage you to review their terms and privacy policies independently.
11. Disclaimer of Warranties
TWRBC services are provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not guarantee that our website, events, or community will be uninterrupted, error-free, or meet your expectations. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Well Read Book Club LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of or participation in our services, events, or community.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless The Well Read Book Club LLC, its founders, employees, contractors, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of our services or your violation of these Terms.
14. Modifications to These Terms
We reserve the right to update or modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Your continued use of our services after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
